The remediation was nothing short of interesting for me. I originally envisioned a photo album, taking pictures of many different females and captioning them with their various accomplishments to promote female empowerment. When I realized that this was "too easy" for me, I decided to make a video. It was definitely a process.
I started by renting a video camera, which is apparently different for students in Ross than LSA - so that was an interesting encounter when the LSA IT department told me I wasn't allowed to rent out their equipment. I ultimately rented a video camera from Ross and immediately began my search for women to help me with my project. Let me tell you, this was no easy task. Of course, everyone wants to help when you present the idea, but actually getting people to participate took a five-hour trek around campus. I ultimately settled on videos for the first half of my remediation, and I then moved solely into photographs for the second. I recorded the original clips, but then asked women to send me a photograph of their choice for the second part of the video project. All in all, I had to step out of my comfort zone to create this piece, and I am pretty happy with it. I have never considered myself a creative person, so it was pretty fun (and definitely interesting) to see how the multiple "drafts" of my remediation turned out. Check out my final draft! |
